The Cape CrossFit Wolfpack is arguably the most successful team in South Africa when it comes to the Sport of Fitness

But this time around the CCF Wolfpack haven’t only qualified for their 8th consecutive “CrossFit Games Regional” competition, but out of this hard working group of athletes we have also qualified 2 Individual Athletes in Coach Alan Foulis & Coach Justin Swart to compete against the best in Africa, Middle East & Southern Europe.

Being a competitive CrossFit Athlete these days takes A LOT of time, our competing athletes spend an average of +3-4 hours per day in the “box” (gym) to be able to reach the highest level, and as you can imagine a bit of financial support for their travels and accommodation to Madrid, Spain, in June would help a long way. Therefore we are asking friends and friends of friends to support us in raising funds for the teams travel to Europe - but we wouldn’t ask you to do it for “free”..

Instead, the team (including the coach!) will pay you back with 1 Calorie per R10 donated by either Running on the Assault Runner or working on the Assault Bike, both from MiFitness. Both machines will be running simultaneously and the entire workout will be streamed live on our Cape CrossFit Instagram!

What is the CrossFit Games Regionals?

After 5 weeks of “CrossFit Games Open”, an Online Competition where +400k people worldwide competed this year, the 20 best Females, Males, and Teams in 17 Regions across the world get invited to compete at the next qualifying stage for the CrossFit Games.

This year CCF Wolfpack is more competitive than ever before and our two male Athletes placed 4th and 11th in the Africa-Middle East Region, while it looks like our Team is actually winning the Open qualifier in the same Region!

We are the only team in South Africa that have qualified for 8 straight Regional Competitions and we aim to help put South Africa on the map even further after Jason Smith’s amazing performance in 2017 - hopefully we can get the SA CrossFit community behind us and help send our athletes off to the biggest battle of their lives!

If you can’t support here, you are more than welcome to join us on the 5th of May 2018 at Cape CrossFit where we will, just like previous years, also organise a Fun(d)raiser event where we will have a big raffle, fun BIG Team Workouts, a Braai and just a generally cool time to send the team off towards their goals.

Athlete Profiles

Alan Foulis (32 yo) - Individual

Alan has been on the competitive stage for a long while by now, but is currently in the form of his life and is aiming at fighting at the very top level of our sport!

Open Placement 2018: 4th (did not compete in 2017)

Regionals Experience: 2014, 2016.

Notable Achievements in the last year: Winner of Fittest in Cape Town 2018!

Justin Swart (27 yo) - Individual

Justin is climbing the ladder each year and at 4 years into his CrossFit career he has qualified for his first international Individual Competition.

Open Placement 2018: 11th (from 37th in 2017)

Regionals Experience: Team in 2015, 2016, 2017.

Notable Achievements in the last year: In his first high level Individual Competition Justin finished 5th in Fittest in Cape Town 2018 in a stacked field!

Nicole Warburg (34 yo) - Team

Nicole has been involved in CrossFit for many years by now (2nd Fittest woman in Africa in 2014), but seem to only improve as time goes by. Nicole is the “mom” of the team as in she is keeping her team mates in check at any point haha.

Open Placement 2018: 21st (from 30th in 2017)

Regionals Experience: 2nd in 2014 Africa Regionals.

Notable Achievements in the last year: Nicole was a strong contributing fact to the CCF Wolfpack winning the Fittest in Cape Town 2018!

Vicky Polydorou (27 yo) - Team

Vicky is well experienced in spite of her young age, she has been one of the strongest contributor to the CCF Wolfpack for the last 3 years and is without a doubt one of the absolute fittest women in South Africa.

Open Placement 2018: 32nd (from 13th in 2017 - Vicky had a 3 month period with no training at the beginning of the season so this was expected).

Regionals Experience: Individual in 2014, Team in 2015, 2016, 2017.

Notable Achievements in the last year: Vicky competed in the Fittest in Cape Town 2018 and even though she had only been in full training for a couple of months she held her own in a very stacked field!

Richard Wollboldt (23 yo) - Team

Richard is the spring chicken in the team, but without a doubt one of the future leaders at CCF as well! Richards trajectory is impressive and we know that he will be a strong contributor to the strongest team ever sent from CCF!

Open Placement 2018: 41st (from 67th in 2017).

Regionals Experience: Team in 2017.

Notable Achievements in the last year: Richard has started his rise to the top this season with several high placings in team competitions across SA, and for 2019 we expect him to be up and fighting with the very top dogs in our sport!

Matthew Bowerman (31 yo) - Team

Matt is the “9-5 guy” in the team, but has once again proven that a day job can’t stop him from reaching his goals. This will be the third time Matt is representing Team CCF Wolfpack - and he is looking stronger than ever!

Open Placement 2018: 58th (from 123rd in 2017).

Regionals Experience: Team in 2016 & 2017.

Notable Achievements in the last year: Matt accumulated 2 podium places in the CCF Wolfpack teams, 3rd in United We Stand and 1st at Fittest in Cape Town 2018!

Chris Oman (37 yo) - Coach

Chris has been competing and coaching at CCF since 2011. Chris is the Head Coach at CCF and since “retiring” as an athlete, his biggest goal is to grow the CCF Competition crew into a team of super star athletes on the international scene!

Open 2018: Best year as a coach with the highest placings ever seen from CCF athletes, AND a potential win in the Open for the CCF Wolfpack.

Regionals Experience: 2 Individual and 3 Team Regionals - but more importantly 3rd year of coaching the younger athletes to an international level.
