Hello

My name is Mandy Letnik and I have started this in order to raise funds to help pay for my father-in-law's pacemaker that he needs.

Marijan Letnik, born 20/08/1934 in then Yugoslavia, is the most loveable, gentle and kind hearted soul that God placed in my life. Having fallen on hard time growing up during world war 2 he knew his only way out was through education. To put himself through university he would work nights shoveling coal on the trains or filling in potholes. His hard work paid off in the end and he got a good job working for Telefunken. In 1975 he moved his family to South Africa as part of the team that brought TV to South Africa.

From 1981 - 2017 he was a much loved business owner in Linden, Johannesburg - Linden Radio and Television. At the age of 86 years old, Papa is still doing what he loves, repairing tv's, radios, turntables and VHS machines, from home.

But now his health has taken a turn and he needs to get a pacemaker put in on 9 March 2021 as his heartbeat is averaging only 40 beats per minute. He is not on a medical aid, so we need to pay for the pacemaker privately.

Words cannot describe what Papa has meant to me, or what he has done for me. When I was at my lowest and darkest point in my life, Papa looked past it all and saw the good in me. He lifted me up to his level and showed me unconditional love and acceptance. He has showed me what true compassion and love look like, and I thank God for every day that we have together.
